Masterful design

There is no room for compromise when following your dream. This was the attitude of Bertel Gardberg in designing the Lion cutlery range back in 1958. Nowadays this masterpiece is recognised as a classic of Finnish design.

After updating the dimensions and materials for modern requirements, Hackman resumed production of Lion cutlery to mark the company’s 220th anniversary in 2010. The black handles of this cutlery range are made of durable matt plastic and the metal elements are shiny stainless 18/10 steel. The original cutlery design has been enlarged, while maintaining the dimensions of the salad servers and ladle. Dishwasher proof Lion is ideal for both everyday use and special occasions.

Designer Bertel Gardberg

Designer

Silversmith-designer Bertel Gardberg (1916–2007) brooked no compromise in following his dream. This master craftsman was also convinced that the hands are inherently the key to realising new concepts in various materials. No machine could be capable of this.

One of the great names in Finnish design, Gardberg became a member of the Academy of Finland in 1982 and is renowned for his sophisticated design approach. The distinguished design specialist Tauno Tarna, a long-term colleague of Gardberg, was involved in the work of modernising the Lion range.

Care instructions

Lion cutlery may be washed by hand or in a dishwasher. Wash or at least rinse all cutlery immediately after use to remove food scraps. Allow adequate space around cutlery items in the dishwasher. Avoid prolonged soaking of cutlery items.
