Cast iron cookware

Care instructions

Parts

Cast iron cookware is durable and resistant to high temperatures and hard use. Cast iron retains heat very well and the cookware is therefore excellent for frying and casseroles. The products are pre-seasoned at the factory and are immediately ready for use. It pays to break in a new product by treating it with cooking oil after using it for the first time.

Cast iron products must not be washed in a dishwasher. Do not use a detergent either – wipe the product with kitchen paper or simply rinse it with warm water after use. Carefully dry the product after rinsing, preferably on a mildly warm hob. If it’s necessary to use a detergent, rinse and carefully dry the product, then treat it with cooking oil to prevent rust. Do not use the cookware to store food. When the product is not in use, put some kitchen paper inside the product and leave the lid a little open.

Possible rust can be removed as follows: wash the product using a detergent, rub the rust away with a scouring sponge, or with table salt. Rinse and dry well. Treat the inner surface with unsalted lard or cooking oil. Heat up the product in the oven at 250º C (lard) for about half an hour, or at 150º C (cooking oil) for 1-2 hours. Wipe off excess fat and the product is ready for use again.

NB! The Value cast iron range is made from enamelled cast iron. The rust removing procedure shouldn't be used for the Value product range.
